Average review score:

Not Much Cookin' Here
This is a cute little thing, but if you really want an extraordinary Wizard of Oz cookbook, you'd be better off finding 'Cooking in Oz' by Elaine Willingham and Steve Cox. Loads of pictures and celebrity recipes, info on L. Frank Baum, trivia and great stuff for all of us who love Oz and Baum.

A Neat Little Cookbook
A neat little cookbook sure to please those who like to collect cookbooks or Oz. Easy to follow recipes named appropriately with the film in mind are studded with excepts from the film.

Americanization of a Rural Immigrant Church: The General Conference Mennonites in Central Kansas, 1874-1939
Published in Hardcover by Garland Pub (September, 1990)
Author: Dennis D. Engbrecht
Average review score:

If you enjoy reading dissertations......
Over 70,000 Mennonites emigrated from Russia in 1874 to seek religious freedom. The author focuses on 35 groups (churches) in Central Kansas from four major areas of Russia. But because of each groups' diversifications and specific differences between the groups themselves, the author was not able to make the information in, or the reading of, the book flow.

Not to be considered for "just a good read," or not useful for research or information as there is no index.

I Hate Kansas State: 303 Reasons Why You Should, Too
Published in Paperback by Crane Hill Publishers (May, 1900)
Author: Paul Finebaum
Average review score:

What's wrong with K-State?
I don't understand why this guy doesn't like K-State at all. I am only a Junior in High School, but I hope to go to K-State once I graduate. I've only heard good things about the school, and they're ranked, I think, 7th in the U.S. with Yale, Harvard, Stanton, etc. I plan on being a Wildcat some day, and I sure didn't like what this guy had to say about them.

Where are the negative numbers for this rating???!!!!!!
You've got to be kidding me! Who in their right mind would pay to have this book written. The author should go back to the writing style to which he is best suited: marquees of fast food restaraunts! What a bad concept. Save your money, don't buy this book. If you feel the need to waste money, buy a ticket to a KU football game. Now there's quality entertainment! Plenty of elbow room in those stands to enjoy your Chalupa!

303 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Buy This Book
I can't imagine why anyone in their right mind would write a book like this unless they flunked out of Kansas State or are sickeningly addicted to the University of Kansas. I highly recommend Kansas State University (I am an Alumnus), and I suggest that you avoid this book.

Charles W. Quantrell: A True History of His Guerilla Warfare on the Missouri and Kansas Border During the Civil War of 1861 to 1865
Published in Paperback by University Press of the Pacific (March, 2001)
Authors: John P. Burch, John P. Burch, and John P Burch
Average review score:

It's William Clarke Quantrell, NOT Charles W.
For heaven's sake, the man's name was William Clarke Quantrell. Why buy or bother to read a book who's author doesn't even know the true name of the main character?

Earth Treasures: The Northwestern Quadrant: Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, and Wyoming

Earth Treasures:The Northwestern Quadrant
This book covers only very well known locations and only of rocks and minerals suitable for lapidary. This book is a good 30 years out of date. In my own state, I have been to every location listed and 90% of them do not exist anymore or are no longer accessible. In addition, I know of several other areas that are well known but not listed. Don't waste your time with this book.

How to Form a Corporation, LLC or Partnership in Kansas (QuickStart)
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Corporate Publishing Co. (01 April, 2000)
Author: W. Dean Brown
Average review score:

Very shoddy work and poor effort
This book is page after page of only general information about forms of business; the sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation, and limited liability corporation. Yet the book was advertised as a book dealing specifically with Kansas businesses. The Kansas information is less than a tenth of the book and seems only an afterthought.

The author also doesn't seem to understand LLCs or how they are replacing the S Corporation.

The information found in this book is information any serious entrepreneur would have already seen on the web. Today we expect a print source to contain special or value-added information for the price we are paying. I encourage the reader to first find all information you can on the web , as it will easily be more than is contained in this book.

Kansas Katie: A Sunflower Tale
Published in Paperback by Ravenstone Press (October, 2000)
Author: Jerri Garretson
Average review score:

Poor illustrations and rambling text
The author's idea about creating a folk character who plants sunflowers in Kansas is interesting. I was eager to add the book to my collection as a companion to the Johnny Apple seed unit I teach. I was very disappointed at the amateur drawings, however. The text was wordy and used so much affected dialect that what should have been charming was labored. I chose not to even use it. I threw it away.
